AGONY OF A FAILED NATION

*THE AGONY* *OF* *A* *FAILED* *NATION*.

PREAMBLE:

Beloved, on the 3rd of August 2018 i wrote to the political elite in my blog *https://ayoogunjobi.blogspot.com* that ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.( a message.which was repeated a few days ago) On December 27th 2018, i wrote WHO ARE THE REAL CRIMINALS? I reposted this write-up on September 13th 2020 referring to the political elite as the real criminals.of this society(the same message was repeated a few days ago) On the 12th of October 2019, subsequent to other write-ups, i told my readers it was TIME TO RE-THINK,  Oñ February 14th 2020, i offered MY HUMBLE OPINION ON RESTRUCTURING. On the 17th of February 2020, i alerted A NATION AT THE VERGE OF COLLAPSE. On February 21st 2020 I claimed that A STORM Was BREWING. On February 26th 2020 i wrote about A NATION AT THE CROSSROADS. On February 27th 2020, i warned that WE ARE SITTING ON A TIME BOMB. On September 7th 2020 i claimed that UNITED WE STAND AND DIVIDED WE FALL.  and 7th October 2020 brought in my moaning on CRY THE BELOVED COUNTRY.

October 9th 2020 marked the beginning of a youth uprising in Nigeria which started with a peaceful protest. We had it çoming a long time ago, but the political elite refused to listen to voice of reason. Now the confrontation by the youths has led to anarchy accompanied by shedding of blood and destruction of properties which arose as a result of the *genocide* of the *Black* *Tuesday* of October 20th 2020. Many harmless protesting youths were gunned down in cold blood at the Lekki Toll Gate Lagos.

What we face now in Nigeria is a crisis that has been bottling up over the past sixty years. A crisis caused by the amalgamation of strange bedfellows by our erstwhile colonial masters at Independence.

Nigerian youths who constitute about 70% of the population now say "Enough is Enough". The youths have turned out to be *catalysts for true* *change* . What we face now is a full-blown youth revolution which (given the  role Nigeria .plays in African affairs) could spill to other countries on the continent.

The youths are rebelling against a society that has imparted half-baked education and created jobless graduates out of a great number of them. A situation where many of them drop out of school due to pervasive poverty in the land. The healthcare facility is nothing to write home about, provision of power generation and potable water is poor and the society is skewed to favor the ruling elite against the welfare of the populace.

The cost of governance is so prohibitive and there is massive corruption in the land. The Covid-19 era has brought a lot of hardship on the land. The palliative that is supposed to cater for the welfare of the people are locked up in wharehouses which the hungry and angry youths are now looting

They are protesting against nepotism in the land and asking for a RESTRUCTURING of the polity. The incident of the Black Tuesday Genocide has led to hooligans and street urchins hijacking the hitherto peaceful protest of the youths çutting across all divides resulting in spontaneous arson and destruction of many public and private properties of government as well as selected politicians especially in Lagos and currently in the South Eastern part of the polity. There is confusion in the land as to what direction we are headed.

My appeal to the youths is to give in to dialogue with the authorities,as the continuous looting and arson is "cutting our nose to spite our face". The resources that will be deployed to replace destroyed properties can be better harnessed to provide for the greater comfort of the society.

The authorities on their own part should as much as practicable, take a very close look at the demands of the youths, afterall they constitute a greater percentage of the nation's population and the future belongs to them.

The marriage of strange bedfellows that has been haunting the nation since Independence has turned into"The Agony of A Failed Nation'"

OLODUMARE in HIS wisdom has now decided that the 1884 Berlin Partition that merged the constituents part of the polity together be revisited to give birth to a UNITED AFRICAN STATES with Ilesa, Osun State in YORUBALAND as the HEADQUARTERS.

Shalom
