WAR AND RUMOURS OF WAR

Beloved, the news circulating in the social media was that the executive arm of government was on the verge of introducing a free visa policy that will encourage an influx of Fulani people into Nigeria.
As much as ORUNMILA appreciates that these Fulani people are our African Brothers and should be treated with love and respect, we should however be mindful of our plight in Nigeria. With a population of about  200 million, our country has a problem with governance. Why then should we add to our problem by allowing an influx of settlers to increase our population and make our situation more complex?

We should not be seen as engaging in a tribal competition between the Hausas, the Fulanis, the Igbos, the Yorubas, and all the other tribes.
We should all unite in love to face our common problems which is markedly disunity leading to UNDERDEVELOPMENT.

Any tribe that is striving to unjustifiably claim superiority over the others is fanning the embers of war and bloodshed, which we cannot afford now, as this will “turn back the hands of the clock”.

We have enough problems containing the Boko Haram Insurgency, banditry kidnapping ,add to it  the incidences of the rampaging Fulani herdsmen as all these are not in the best interest of Nigeria.
As elders, we should eschew selfishness, pride and greed and for the sake of our children and the unborn generation of Nigerians, avoid the breakout of another civil war.

Our colonizers sowed the seed of discord amongst us by the 1884 Partition of Africa in Berlin. This has given them the opportunity to continue to exploit us even after over almost 140 years.

Why can’t we as Africans think deeply and in love and unity uproot these seeds of discord which have grown up to giant trees of disunity and ethnic/ tribal conflict?
As Africans, let us think deeply about how our continent can be emancipated and move upward from the least developed to one of the most advanced continents in the world.

The weapon that we need is UNCONDITIONAL LOVE.

We should bury the hatchet of ethnic rivalry as this portends ominous signs for the future of unborn and younger generations of Nigerians/ Africans.
Shalom.

God Bless Africans
